Leave Your Kids at Home for These Great Festivals

Festival season is upon us and if you are like me, you cannot wait to get out there and have a good time. There are hundreds of different types of festivals, no matter what your interests are, you can always find something that will peak your interest. If you have never been to a festival before, maybe this year is the year you try it out. No matter how old you are, or what you are into, there is something for you out there. However, most festivals are not very kid friendly. I have seen plenty of photos recently of children at different festivals across the country, however these does not seem like the best idea, or the best way to enjoy the experience yourself. If you are going attend any festivals this year, I highly recommend you find a great sitter on Care.com and leave your kids at home for the day, the night, or even the weekend if you can swing it.

Food and Wine Festivals

These types of events are a dime a dozen during the warmer months of the year. Spring and summer seem to bring out the food carts no matter what part of the country you live in. Held at parking lots and in stadiums across the country, these events have vendors from all over gathered in one spot for a day filled with tasty treats and a good time. Even better, are the events where beer or wine is involved. The best thing about these types of festivals, is that you can usually get a taste of a menu item that is very popular or trending at the time. Look for flyers in advance of the even so you can decide in advance which trucks you want to try and check out so you don’t waste your time wandering the grounds.

Art and Design Festivals

These weekend long events usually take place in bigger cities or popular destinations by the water. Home to hundreds of new and upcoming artists, as well as some bigger names, these events are great for anyone who loves to wander through aisle after aisle of unique and one of a kind artwork that they may never be able to afford. However, there is usually an area of the fair that showcases smaller more affordable works of art that you may be interested in taking home. Even better, there is a yearly art show in New York City called the Affordable Art Fair that you may want to check out

Music Festivals

These are probably the most popular kind of festival and also where a lot of the festival buzz started. There are a few big ones that take place every year, and it seems like they just keep getting more and more diverse with bigger names and even wider appeals with different aspects being added each year. Many music festivals double as a camping community with people from all over coming to set up camp for a weekend or a week of wild activities.
